Standard Operating Procedure for Pest Control in Gels Production Area

1) Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to establish procedures for preventing, monitoring, and controlling pests within the gels production area to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain a hygienic environment.

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all personnel involved in pest control activities and all areas within the pharmaceutical manufacturing facility’s gels production department.

3) Responsibilities

Facilities Management: Implement pest control measures and coordinate with external pest control service providers.
Production Supervisors: Monitor for pest activity and report issues promptly.
Quality Assurance (QA) Team: Audit and ensure compliance with pest control procedures.
All Personnel: Follow good hygiene practices and report potential pest issues.

4) Procedure

4.1 Pest Prevention
4.1.1 Seal all gaps, cracks, and openings in walls, floors, and ceilings to prevent pest entry.
4.1.2 Maintain cleanliness in production areas to eliminate food sources and hiding places for pests.

4.2 Monitoring and Detection
4.2.1 Implement regular inspections of production areas for signs of pest activity.
4.2.2 Use monitoring devices (e.g., traps, baits) strategically placed to detect and capture pests.

4.3 Pest Control Measures
4.3.1 Implement appropriate pest control methods (e.g.,

chemical treatments, traps) based on pest type and severity.
4.3.2 Coordinate pest control activities with licensed and certified pest control service providers.

4.4 Record Keeping
4.4.1 Maintain detailed records of pest control activities, including inspections, treatments, and outcomes.

4.5.2 Conduct periodic refresher training sessions to reinforce pest control protocols.
