Standard Operating Procedure for Managing Emergency Transportation of Injured Workers

1) Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to establish a structured procedure for safely and efficiently transporting injured workers to medical facilities during emergencies, ensuring their health and safety are prioritized.

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all employees, supervisors, and Emergency Response Team (ERT) members responsible for managing emergency situations involving injured personnel. It covers transportation by ambulance, company vehicles, or external medical services.

3) Responsibilities

  • Supervisors: Coordinate emergency transportation and ensure injured workers receive prompt medical attention.
  • Emergency Response Team (ERT): Provide initial first aid, assess the situation, and assist in preparing the injured worker for transport.
  • HR Department: Maintain up-to-date emergency contact information for all employees.
  • Safety Officers: Monitor transportation protocols and review incident reports for continuous improvement.

4) Procedure

4.1 Immediate Actions After an Injury

  1. Ensure Safety:
    • Assess the area to ensure it is safe to approach the injured worker.
    • If necessary, secure the area to prevent further injuries or hazards.

    • Administer initial first aid based on the severity and type of injury, such as stopping bleeding or stabilizing fractures.
  4. Contact Emergency Services:
    • Dial emergency services or the nearest ambulance provider and provide details about the injury, location, and

4.2 Preparing for Transportation

  1. Assess the Mode of Transportation:
    • Determine whether the injured worker requires an ambulance or can be transported safely in a company vehicle.
