Standard Operating Procedure for Maintenance of Forklifts and Pallet Jacks

1) Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to establish guidelines for the regular maintenance and inspection of forklifts and pallet jacks to ensure safe and reliable operation in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all forklifts and pallet jacks used within the facility premises.

3) Responsibilities

The Facilities Management Department is responsible for implementing and adhering to this SOP. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for conducting maintenance and inspections of forklifts and pallet jacks.

4) Procedure

1. Preventive Maintenance Schedule
   1. Develop a preventive maintenance schedule for forklifts and pallet jacks based on manufacturer recommendations and operational usage.
   2. Schedule regular inspections and maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fluid checks, and component inspections.
2. Inspection and Maintenance Tasks
   1. Inspect forklifts and pallet jacks before each use for signs of wear, damage, or malfunction.
   2. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, brake inspections, and tire checks.
3. Repair and Service
   1. Address any identified issues promptly through repair or service by qualified personnel.
   2. Document repairs, replacements, and maintenance activities in the equipment maintenance log.
4. Training and Safety
   1. Provide training to operators and maintenance personnel on safe operation and maintenance practices for forklifts and pallet jacks.
   2. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols during
