Standard Operating Procedure for Environmental Monitoring During Emergency Situations

1) Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to outline the procedures for monitoring environmental conditions during emergency situations to assess potential risks, minimize environmental impact, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all manufacturing and operational areas within the facility and covers environmental monitoring during emergencies such as chemical spills, equipment failures, fires, or natural disasters.

3) Responsibilities

  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team: Lead monitoring efforts, assess environmental risks, and report findings.
  • Supervisors: Ensure team compliance with monitoring protocols during emergencies.
  • Emergency Response Team (ERT): Support environmental monitoring activities and provide necessary data to the EHS team.
  • Employees: Report any observed environmental hazards promptly to the EHS team.

4.1 Preparation for Environmental Monitoring

  1. Develop Monitoring Protocols:
    • Identify key environmental parameters to monitor, such as air quality, water contamination, and soil pollution.
