Standard Operating Procedure for Conducting Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Orientation for New Employees

1) Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to establish a standardized process for conducting Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) orientation for new employees to ensure they understand organizational safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all new employees, contractors, and interns joining the organization who require EHS training as part of their onboarding process.

3) Responsibilities

  • HR Department: Schedule EHS orientation sessions and provide a list of new hires to the EHS team.
  • EHS Trainer: Deliver the orientation session and ensure content is comprehensive and engaging.
  • Supervisors: Reinforce EHS policies and practices with new employees during on-the-job training.
  • New Employees: Attend the orientation session and actively participate in discussions and assessments.

4.1 Scheduling the Orientation
