Standard Operating Procedure for Training Personnel on Waste Management Procedures

1) Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to provide guidelines for developing and conducting comprehensive training programs on waste management procedures to ensure employees understand and comply with regulatory, environmental, and organizational standards.

2) Scope

This SOP applies to all employees, including operators, supervisors, and waste management personnel, involved in the handling, segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal of waste across all departments.

3) Responsibilities

  • Training Coordinators: Develop, schedule, and conduct training sessions as per this SOP.
  • Supervisors: Ensure their teams participate in training programs and adhere to waste management practices.
  • Employees: Attend training sessions and implement the knowledge in daily operations.
  • Safety Officers: Review and approve training materials and monitor program effectiveness.

4.1 Identification of Training Needs

  1. Assess Job Roles:
    • Identify employees involved in waste handling, segregation, storage, or disposal.
    • Define role-specific training needs (e.g., chemical waste segregation for lab staff, transportation guidelines for logistics personnel).
